I'm missing Maine and can't wait to get back. Even if the summer is long gone there are other wonders to look forward to: snow, icy walks.  When we first started coming to Maine about 24 years ago we only came in the summer.  After we bought our house in Owls Head, we couldn't wait to spend our first Christmas in the new house. What a shock driving up. The sky was pitch black by 4 o'clock. We are use to it by now but at first it was a little disorienting. That first Christmas we also couldn't find a tree. They were all sold out.  Bill found a Charlie Brown looking thing with like three scrawny branches. Sad looking thing but we made it look bright and festive with old family ornaments. We'll be there soon, I tell myself.
